The Drama League, which turns 100 in 2016, holds a benefit gala each year in New York City. This year’s exclusive, black-tie event will take place on November 7, 2016, at the Plaza. The 2016 benefit gala theme is “Our Next Century,” and the evening will feature a silent auction, a cocktail reception followed by an elegant three-course meal, and a musical tribute by prominent performers from Broadway, the West End, and Hollywood.

The annual benefit gala is held to support the Drama League’s Directors Project, an award-winning program with over 300 alumni, including Tony Award winners Sam Gold of Fun Home and Diane Paulus of Finding Neverland. The Directors Project, which was founded in 1984, is an educational initiative that seeks out promising young artists and helps launch their careers in professional theater. Directors involved with the project have been the recipients of honors including Tony, Emmy, Grammy, GLAAD, and New York Drama Critics’ Circle Awards.
In addition the Drama League will hold its annual Awards Luncheon on May 20th 2016 at the Marriot Marquis in New York city. The nominations were announced on April 20th 2016 at Sardis. The voting has started and the excitement continues to the announcements on May 20th.
